Lexy was sound in body, had wonderful color and an attitude that said "I Am The One". Nothing could touch her for movement, front and rear. That is mainly
what separated Lexy from her competitors across the country. Boy did she tick some folks off when this baby pup at 9-10mos was winning Breed over seasoned competition! Lexy did this with her owner/handlers... specifically, my little sister, Kathy.
Lexy and Kathy were a team that were not often beat for Breed. Lexy was such a nice pup, that the specials she competed against (and she did this from right to left coasts! not just in our backyard) were not able to win over Lexy's combo of attitude, breed type and soundness.
Lexy is the root & solid base that all of today's A*starz dogs are built upon. In a world of graphite, she is pure platinum! We have linebred and will continue to, using Lexy as our point of focus. The bottom line has been our ideal of the Breed Standard, which have resulted in Chipper as the blueprint.
Lexy is linebred on Ch. Star*Kees Dingbat. Her pedigree is strong in the Jee Jac, Windrift and Markwright pedigree lines. She was bred four times, producing litters by Ch. Sherwood Solomon, Ch. YanKee Parader ROMX [2 litters], and Ch. Sherwood's Silent Snicker. She was an excellent mother.
She has produced many knock-out kees with over 50% of her kids finishing their championships! Many of them are also top ranking kees, such as "Stuff" [Am/Can Ch. A*starz Right Stuff CopyKee HOF], "Jenna" [Am/Can Ch. A*starz Close Encounters], "Justin" [Ch. A*starz Special Effect], "Delilah" [Ch. A*starz Novel Dee Light], "JD" [Ch. A*starz And Stripes], and "SmoKee" [Am/Can BISS Ch. A*starz Conan, 1998 KCA Select].
Lexy was retired from the whelping box and was enjoying going to shows as a Veteran with 1st place wins in 1993 at KCDV & BKC and placed at the 1994 KCA National in Ohio. She was a favorite even in the Veteran rings. She was OFA'd GOOD at age 2yrs and again at age 8 years! A nice smooth mover when she was 10 months and into her veteran years. She was one of the healthiest dogs we know, even into her double digit years.
We can't say enough good things about her. She has contributed in a positive way, not only to us, but to the Keeshond breed! Lexy is known by her call name [or, as *that promiscuous bitch*!] around the country. Her feet and natural, untrimmed britches & tail are pictured in the grooming section of the New Complete Keeshond by Cash. AKC used her as an example of a standard kees female both in size & type in their Keeshond video.
Lexy's last day came fast. She was just fine & then all of the sudden, she was not. Her end came quickly and painlessly. She was put to sleep in our arms. She went peacefully at just over 15 years of age.
